Sweets for my Sweet(s)

It´s still winter, even if the calendar shows spring. Anyhow we are waiting and we are sure it will come. You may not believe it, but yesterday it was snowing. Anyhow, we are trying to be not too much frustrated. I stay at home enjoy the sparkling flames of the fireplace, listen to the soft music of the radio and study how I can help my family to overcome the sadness of the late winter.
My kids had immediately a glorious idea. And I knew what was coming up as sweets are on the top of their ranking list. To avoid their general demand of “milk rice” I offered instead one of my speciality Baked Apple Rings. And as both accepted frenetically I was sure to have met their desire exactly.

Ingredients for 10 Baked Apple Rings:

300

g

flour

200

ml

milk

3

eggs

3

tbsp

sugar

½

tsp

cinnamon

1

pinch

salt

3

apples

vanilla icecream

some

chocolate sauce

3-4

tbsp

sugar mixed with cinnamon (to besprinkle)

some

oil or margarine

Directions:

  1. Whip eggs and sugar until fluffy.
  2. Add flour, milk, salt and cinnamon and mix it.
  3. Peel apples and core them with a corer.
  4. Cut apples into 1,5 cm slices.
  5. Heat oil or maragarine in a pan.
  6. Dip each apple ring in batter and fry in oil until golden brown and crisp on both sides.
  7. Remove with a fork and drain on paper towel.
  8. Serve apple rings with sugar and cinnamon (1 tbsp sugar with a pinch of cinnamon for 3-4 apple rings) and a ball of vanilla ice cream and some chocolate sauce.
