Ginger tea, not only delicious but also healthy

The stressful time of carnival is over now and we have to return to the normal daily life.
Some have to regenerate at first from the heavy celebrating days, the others are starting to tend their health. The fasting time has started. As last year my fasting time was shortened due to certain circumstances I intend to complete this time the full period. The occasion is convenient as the winter is slowly dying and the spring is not very far.
Ok, today is only my second day but I am still sure I will stand the challenge.
Originally I wanted to start three days ago but a colleague of mine brought a lot of doughnuts to the office - some kind of “carnival-finishing-gift”, so I had to postpone the actual starting time for one day.
Be honest who could withstand such a temptation, Advocaat-, Baileys- und Strawberrylimes doughnuts in huge quantities and just waiting to be eliminated.
During my period of fasting I eat nothing but increase my daily liquid requirement tremendously.

Due to this fact I am presenting today no dish but a ginger tea, a beverage which tastes very good and can be consumed hot as well as cold (in summer with ice cubes).

Ingredients for 1 l ginger tea:

1

l

water

2

tsp

fresh ginger, diced

1

tbsp

clear honey

2

tbsp

lemon- or lime juice

½

stem of

lemongrass

Directions:

  1. Peel the ginger root and slice it into thin slices. Bring the water to a boil in a saucepan. Once it is boiling, add the ginger.

  2. Add lemongrass, cover tea and let it steep for 8 minutes. Strain the tea. Add honey and lemon- or lime juice to taste.
